Against the beautiful backdrop of Penshurst Place on a windy grey day our softball cricket season got underway. With three games to play we were surprised to see we’d be bowling onto a mat, however during practice we didn’t look too bad and were fairly optimistic.

Despite losing all three games Henrys’ scoring showed us as being consistent. We agreed our fielding was tight and a positive start, but our bowling had room for improvement. Despite this, there was a lot to celebrate.

Anna Rs’ bowling and batting was on good form seeing her take two wickets with Leoni, Kat, Kim Julia and Debi taking one a piece. There were a few 4’s throughout the day from Kat, Pippa, Vic, Anna and Kim. Debi, Abbi and Vic shared square leg umpire, whilst Pippa took a catch. However, both she and Abbi made some spectacular dives in the field.

The supporters shouldn’t go unmentioned. A big thanks to The Shaws, Dan, Mike, Orla and Family for joining us and to Henry for scoring all three games.

Our players’ players are Anna R for her solid all round performance and Julia whose maiden bowling performance proved to be a huge success. She took a wicket, hit a 4 and you’d never have known it was only her third time in the field!
